Everything You Need to Know
Enterprise blockchain development requires Hyperledger Fabric expertise, Go chaincode proficiency, ERP integration experience, and multi-organization governance knowledge.
Enterprise Blockchain Developer Skills
Hyperledger Fabric:
Network configuration (crypto-config.yaml, configtx.yaml), channel management, chaincode lifecycle (package, install, approve, commit), endorsement policy design, private data collections (PDC), event listening with the Fabric SDK.
Go chaincode:
CouchDB rich queries, cross-chaincode invocation, event emission, access control via MSP attributes, historical query (GetHistoryForKey), private data operations. Must understand: how Fabric's read-write set works, MVCC conflict handling, and why non-deterministic operations (time, random) are forbidden in chaincode.
ERP integration:
SAP Integration Suite (formerly Cloud Platform Integration), Oracle Integration Cloud, or Azure Logic Apps for connecting Fabric events to enterprise ERP systems. Understanding of IDoc, BAPI, and RFC protocols for SAP; REST adapters for Oracle and Dynamics.
Enterprise Blockchain vs DeFi Developer
| Factor | Enterprise Blockchain | DeFi Developer |
|---|---|---|
| Primary language | Go (chaincode), JavaScript/Python (SDK) | Solidity |
| Blockchain platform | Hyperledger Fabric | Ethereum and L2s |
| Security focus | Certificate management, access control, data privacy | Smart contract vulnerabilities, economic attacks |
| Integration target | ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, Dynamics) | DeFi protocols, wallets, oracles |
| Transaction model | Private, permissioned, no gas | Public or private, gas required |
| Organizational model | Known participants, formal identity | Pseudonymous wallets |
