Hyperledger Fabric: channel-based privacy (different participants see different data), Go/Java chaincode, identity management via MSP. Private Ethereum (Besu): EVM-compatible (same Solidity as public Ethereum), all participants see all transactions (unless using privacy features), larger developer pool. Fabric is better for multi-org supply chain with privacy requirements; private Ethereum is better for projects that want EVM compatibility and a simpler developer recruiting path.
Focused pilot (1 channel, 2–3 organizations, 1 business process): 12–18 weeks. Full multi-organization network (5+ organizations, multiple channels, ERP integration): 28–44 weeks. The critical path is usually ERP integration and participant onboarding, not blockchain development.
